SUMMARY

Winnie the Pooh LOVES honey... but sometimes that leads him into trouble.

This book starts out with Winnie the Pooh on the search for more honey, as he just finished his last jar.  He follows a honey bee to the nest and tries multiple times to reach the honey hive.  After failing a couple times with a still rumbly tummy, he ventures to Rabbit's house.  He arrives just in time for lunch.  Rabbit offers him some honey, and he eats, and eats, and eats... until there is no honey left!  Pooh ate so much honey that as he is attempting to leave, he gets stuck in Rabbit's front door.  After many attempts to get Pooh Bear out of the hole, Christopher Robin says they will just have to wait until Pooh is thin enough to slide out of the doorway.  His friends take turns keeping him company, and Rabbit makes his bottom more aesthetic to his living room.  After quite some time has passed, Rabbit finally and accidentally makes him budge!  He calls all the friends back to help and they push and pull until Rabbit finally pushes hard enough that Pooh goes FLYING out the door and lands right into the bee hive.

MY OPINIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS

I think this book would be really engaging for younger elementary students.  It would work really well in a setting where students are actively participating in a read aloud.  I would like to see this used for students to predict future events, and then also recall what they read.  Because there are such vivid and specific events that happen in this story, I think it would be a really good book for students to practice summarizing and retelling the plot.

The one downside to this book is that it's probably too long to read in one sitting; however, It could be a week-long read aloud where students are asked to respond to the story and predict what will happen next.

PROFESSIONAL REVIEW

Fun for the children to look at the pictures. Story about one hungry little bear and how he got stuck in a tree because he ate too much honey. Loved how all his friends came to get him out. Cute book.
